  ANTE LA PROPUESTA DE CALIXTO ORTEGA COMO REPRESENTANTE DE VENEZUELA EN LA C.P.I. El Comité Internacional contra la Impunidad en Venezuela, CICIVEN, deplora la designación del señor Calixto Antonio Ortega Ríos, como representante del Estado venezolano ante la Corte Penal Internacional, en especial, ante la Asamblea de Estados Partes y los demás órganos de la Corte como organización internacional, de conformidad con el Estatuto de Roma.  El 22/2/2021 el Consejo de la Unión Europea informó haber incluido al señor Calixto Ortega en la lista de funcionarios sancionados por ese organismo, lo que se agrega a las sanciones de otros órganos internacionales.  De acuerdo con la información pública el designado representante, señor Calixto Ortega, sancionado por la Unión Europea, debido a sus acciones, que han socavado la democracia y el estado de derecho en Venezuela, lo que impediría su acceso al territorio de Europa, en particular al territorio del Reino de los Países Bajos, sede de

    OUR POSITION CONCERNING THE PROPOSAL OF CALIXTO ORTEGA RIOS AS REPRESENTATIVE OF VENEZUELA TO THE INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURT (ICC)   The International Committee against Impunity in Venezuela, CICIVEN, an international organization in accordance with the Rome Statute,  deplores the appointment of Mr. Calixto Antonio Ortega Ríos as the representative of the Venezuelan State to  the International Criminal Court,  the Assembly of States Parties and the other organs of the Court.   On 22/2/2021 the Council of the European Union reported the inclusion of  Mr. Calixto Ortega in the list of officials sanctioned by that body, which  added to the sanctions decided by other international organizations.   According to public information, the designated representative, Mr. Calixto Ortega has been  sanctioned by the European Union due to his actions, which have undermined democracy and the rule of law in Venezuela.
